Composite Inlays/Onlays
Composite Inlays/Onlays
This is an alternative to gold or all ceramic inlays. The material is a composite resin which is white in appearance and enables inlay/onlay to match the rest of your teeth.
Composites are a good choice for people with tooth decay which is too far advanced for a filling but not serious enough for a crown.
A composite inlay creates a very natural looking appearance. They provide a water tight seal between the tooth and composite which prevents the risk of bacteria entering the gap and causing infection.
How are composite inlays fitted?
The tooth is prepared to accept the composite inlay. The dentist will then take an impression and send this to the technician where the composite is fabricated. When it’s ready for fitting, the dentist checks the fit of the inlay before cementing it in place.
